We decided on John Davenport's for Christmas Day dinner, because it was only about an hour away from home, was on the 19th floor of the Omni and we liked the menu selections we saw online. We are really glad we did. Now, the view was fantastic, even though it was dark, however, once the fog rolled in it was like having dinner in the clouds. We are planning to go back at some point during the day. They have a very large wine selection of small glasses, large glasses or bottles. A craft cocktail selection and a number of beers on tap and cans / bottes. All of the food we had was excellent. Lobster bisque, Deviled Eggs, Smoked Tenderloin Tips and the Goat Cheese Salad. Then NY Strip, Short Rib and the La Belle Farms Crispy Duck. The desserts were also very good. "The Dome" which was a hard-shell chocolate, well, dome, with chocolate raspberry ganache, the Espresso Creme Brulee, something I do not usually eat but thoroughly enjoyed, and of course nothing beats the Warm Skillet Cookie. Our server and all of the staff were very attentive and checked in on us for drink refills, water refills and to make sure we did not need anything the perfect number of times. Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experience.

Aeden, Kristin, Will, and the whole team made me and my wife’s anniversary experience a wonderful one!
We headed over early and grabbed drinks at the bar. Where we enjoyed some solid cocktails and first class views of the water. We learned they have a happy hour from 4-7pm Monday-Thursday that we plan to come back for.
After drinks we were met with top notch service from Aeden and a surprise complementary champagne drink. All the food we ate was delicious and portions were extremely generous. We brought our own wine and paid a $20 corkage fee.
Would recommend this spot for both a special occasion and a solid happy hour. We plan to visit again!

Nice quiet dine-in experience. The dinner and service were excellent. The Surf and Turf was seasoned and prepared perfectly. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots. Very nice flavor. The Ceasar salad was cold, crisp, and fresh. The dressing was very tasty. We did not have a dessert. However, the ones that passed by our table looked super delicious. It was not overpriced, as some have suggested. It was well within a fair market price for a similar dining experience. The view is quite extensive, which certainly enhanced the dining experience.

I'm so happy this restaurant is back on business. We were able to reserve a table for Thanksgiving buffet. Besides the beautiful views the food is delicious. The buffet didn't disappoint us even when we were at the last seating. Such ample variety, not only traditional Thanksgiving dishes but also duck, smoked salmon, delicious smoked scallops, a carving station, and crepe station as well. Would recommend this place for a romantic dinner or Sunday brunch. Love it!

I've lived in New Haven most of my life and had no idea there was a resturant on the 18th fl of the Omni until recently. I just promoted in my public service job after years of insane hardwork and knew John Davenports would be the place to go celebrate...overlooking the city I serve and grew up in. I made a reservation for a party of two on open table and upon arrival there was no wait which surprised me for a Sat at 7pm. They let me pick my table (window) and we had great views of the city. Our server, our food, the whole experience was phenomenal. They got wind of my celebration and made my evening real special, i could never thank them enough for giving me such a good experience and memory that I'll cherish forever. I look forward to coming back for fun happy hours and other nice dinners. They really went above and beyond for me. Thank you! (Braised short rib and lobster bisque was bomb).

This restaurant that is located on the 19th floor of the Omni is absolutely lovely. I was staying in the hotel and since I became a member I was given a free voucher for either a drink at the bar or coffee from the cafe in the lobby. I opted for a glass of wine...hehe. Major shout out to Olson the bartender who was not only welcoming and super nice, but very professional as well.
Since I was impressed by the atmosphere and the beautiful view of the city I came back for breakfast. Reyna was my server and she was so sweet...so sweet that she remembered my name the next day when I came back. That alone can make a guest feel recognized and appreciated. Many kudos to her.
The food here is really good. I ordered from the menu as opposed to getting from the buffet at $32 a person. My first day I got the three egg omelette and the second day the pancakes with berries. Both items are reasonable priced and you get a good amount of food. They also give you coffee to go when you finish your meal. When you get the bill you can either pay by cash, card or bill it to your room.
I definitely recommend checking this place out whether you are a guest or just looking for a nice quiet place to have a meal. I look forward to dining here again the next time I stay at the Omni.

We had a nice dinner. The French onion soup had good flavor. I had the braised short rib in a veal demi glace with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The meat was fork tender. Sauce was delicious. Asparagus was cooked perfectly. Hubby had salmon, again cooked perfectly. It came in a lemon thyme beurre blanc with charred corn pudding (yummy) and asparagus. Meals also came with a warm roll. Food arrived quickly. Server was friendly. Great choice!
